North West Health Informatics Conference 2011

The Importance of Health Informatics in the Reformed Health Service’
Heron’s Reach, Blackpool 18th and 19th October 2011

North West Health Informatics ConferenceThis inaugural event for leaders of health informatics in the North West was sponsored by Mark Ogden, Executive Finance Director, NHS North of England. It was attended by 115 delegates. There were also a variety of sponsors exhibiting within the main conference hall. The main conference sponsor was Virgin Media.

The conference was created to provide informatics leaders with the opportunity to consider the development needs of their staff going forward in a healthcare world where information will inform the whole clinical pathway.

The conference was designed around the launch of the new Informatics Skills Development Network, intended to provide development for all staff working in informatics, based around the need for the creation of new skills to meet the reform agenda.

Speakers were from a range of backgrounds and perspectives. Delegates welcomed the variety of speakers and the opportunities to think creatively about moving their services forward.

The conference included an overnight stay with the opportunity for delegates to do some real networking away from the confines of the conference structure.

It is intended that this conference will be an annual event. Next year it will be known as ‘Connect 2012’. We look forward to welcoming you all there.
